Ashton Sylve vs Lucas Bahdi Preview

Two lightweights put their unblemished records on the line when Ashton Sylve faces Lucas Bahdi on July 20 at Amalie Arena, Tampa. The main card begins at 8:00 pm.

Bahdi enters the bout following knockout victories in three straight contests. Sylve’s young career has gone from strength to strength since signing for Most Valuable Promotions. Can Bahdi stop the hype train or will Sylve claim the biggest victory of his career?

Ashton Sylve Vs Lucas Bahdi Head-To-Head and Key Stats

Ashton Sylve has experienced a fast ascendancy to the main event scene in boxing. The 20-year-old Californian made his professional debut before graduating high school and was quickly snapped up by MVP. H2O has already headlined multiple cards in his young career and the faith shown in him by MVP is a testament to just how talented he is.

He most recently fought Estivan Falcao in February. Headlining the card at the Caribe Royale Orlando. It was the first time Sylve had fought over 10 rounds and Falcao presented one of his toughest tests so far.

The exciting youngster continued to style out his fledgling career dominantly. Sylve has shown improvement every time he has stepped into the ring, and it was no different when facing Falcao. H2O committed to a fluent jab throughout and showed excellent head movement. He fought beyond his years, looking like a seasoned prizefighter in what was the 11th bout of his career.

Sylve picked apart his Brazilian opponent and secured a near shutout on the scorecards. The American kept his foot on the gas and was determined to end the fight, even with a lopsided decision being a foregone conclusion by the seventh round. He unleashed a vicious right-left combo in the final round, landing a knockdown and putting the cherry on top of a dominating performance. The judges scored it 99-90, 99-90 and 100-89 all in his favour to hand Sylve the 11th win of his career. He remains undefeated with an 11-0 record and nine knockouts.

Lucas Bahdi is undoubtedly an even tougher test than Falcao. The Canadian is more experienced, he enters the bout with an impressive record of 16-0 with 14 knockouts. Prince is facing a quick turnaround, having last stepped into the ring at the beginning of June against Jose Luis Rodriguez. Rodriguez was a step-in for Juan Javier Carrasco with a host of fighters on the card struggling with VISA issues. Bahdi brushed Rodriguez aside, winning via knockout in the fourth round. That extended a run of three straight victories via KO.

His experience can only be a positive for this bout. He has a size and weight advantage too. Standing at 5’9, Prince is an inch taller than Sylve and last stepped on the scales at 134.5 pounds. That can push the narrative in his favour and his knockout rate is also more attractive at 87.5% to H2O’s 81.82%. Bahdi is a true power puncher, but his technique cannot be slept on either. His physical levels will be at their peak six weeks from his walkover of Rodriguez and Sylve has an actual fight on his hands.

Ashton Sylve vs Lucas Bahdi Predictions

Prediction: Ashton Sylve to win by TKO or KO

Someone’s 0 has got to go in this bout. Neither fighter has a loss on their record, making light work of every opponent who has stood across from them. The fact MVP has put this much faith behind Sylve at this point in his career is no coincidence. For such a young fighter to step into the ring against someone of Bahdi’s calibre is a testament to their opinion of his talent. H2O is not being fed to the wolves by any stretch of the term and can do more than just hang with the Prince. Our boxing prediction is for a TKO/KO victory for Sylve.

Sylve has a champion mindset already, instilled in him by MVP and Jake Paul. There is a danger that this turns to overconfidence, but the way H2O has improved fight-on-fight tells us he is focused solely on being the best. He cruised through Falcao and in a 12-rounder there’s no questioning he would have finished the job. That was his first fight over 10 and the experience he picked up from the bout will serve him excellently here. Sylve can work his opponent down and go one better than his last appearance.

Still, do not count out Bahdi. The Canadian will be just as hungry as his young opponent as he looks to claw his way into the top 10. He has the tools to steal this fight and stop the hype train. However, regardless of his experience advantage and the age differential, this is likely the toughest fight of Prince’s career as well.

When comparing the records of their opponents in their previous three fights, Sylve has fought statistically stronger fighters. His last three opponents have a combined win percentage of just over 85% (54-9). In comparison, Bahdi’s have a combined win percentage of 71% (57-23). Prince stormed through Rodriguez, but he had a journeyman’s record of 26-15-1. Make no mistake that age is but a number in this bout.

Bahdi is likely to fight more aggressively than Falcao. This could mean Sylve cannot pressure his opponent as he did in his previous fight. However, it also means he could find easier openings as Prince looks for power punches. Both fighters have to respect each other’s power to a degree they have not yet faced. Their grit is going to be tested unlike any opponent has before.

Ashton Sylve vs Lucas Bahdi Betting Picks

Boxing betting odds will struggle to separate these two fighters, but we forecast Sylve to be the slight favourite. He has a truckload of hype behind him and signed to one of the biggest promoters in the world in MVP. Sylve showed in his last fight that he has the maturity to make it through these 10-rounders and did so in style. If you are wagering on the moneyline, take Sylve.

Six of his last 10 fights have ended with a finish. Bahdi is on a three-fight knockout streak and H2O has three knockouts in five bouts. Both fighters carry a lot of power and we do not see this fight reaching the judge’s scorecards.

Although Bahdi’s streak looks impressive, Sylve has fought stronger competition in his last three. We think the youngster has what it takes to put a stamp on what would be the biggest victory of his career so far by stopping Prince. Wager on Sylve to win via KO/TKO with our online sportsbook.

Sylve and Bahdi will enter a feeling-out process in the early stages of the fight. They will respect each other’s power, though Bardi is likely to push the pace. We expect a knockout in this bout, though not an early one. Sylve showed in his last fight he could find his power in the latter rounds when he knocked down Falcao. Ashton Sylve vs Lucas Bahdi Full Fight Card

Sylve and Bahdi are one of the highlights of what is an exciting night of boxing at the Amalie Arena. There are several big-name fighters alongside them on the main card. Jake Paul will main-event the evening when he steps into the ring with former UFC and BKFC star Mike Perry. This will be the first time Perry has stepped into a professional boxing ring in nearly a decade.

Amanda Serrano will face Stevie Morgan in a tune-up fight for her second bout with Katie Taylor in November. Serrano holds the WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring female featherweight titles. The Real Deal is one of the greatest female boxers of all time, and on paper, is the far superior fighter. However, Morgan’s 14-1 record with 13 knockouts is not to be sniffed at.

MMA legend Uriah Hall will step into a boxing ring for the second time in his career when he faces former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Chavez is a seasoned veteran with a 53-6-1 record who did a decent job at carving out a legacy akin to his legendary father’s during his career.
