Lucas Bahdi vs Juan Javier Carrasco Preview

This weekend, Lucas Bahdi vs Juan Javier Carrasco finally takes place. The fight was originally scheduled for May 11 but was postponed due to issues with securing a visa. However, everything seems sorted now, and we have a fantastic fight to look forward to.

“Prince” Lucas Bahdi is one of a handful of names looking to become the face of Canadian boxing. The phenomenal amateur talent moved into the paid ranks in 2019. He’s now going strong, undefeated in 15 fights, with 13 wins inside the distance. Many consider him one of the top 30 135lb fighters in the world. Lucas will be keen to crack into the fringe world level at 135, one of the most stacked in the sport today.

He continues his quest on June 1 as he comes up against the toughest test of his career, Argentinian fighter Juan Javier Carrasco. Bahdi will enjoy the advantage of fighting at home at the Niagara Falls Convention Center. But there’s no doubt that Carrasco poses the stiffest test of his burgeoning professional career thus far.

Lucas Bahdi vs Juan Javier Carrasco Head-to-Head and Key Stats

Carrasco is a serious risk for Bahdi. Many reputable boxing sources and journalists consider “Titan” a top 20 fighter at 135. It’s the exact sort of challenge that Bahdi should face at this stage of his career. Although he only has 15 fights, he’s also no spring chicken in boxing terms, turning 30 in January. The Argentine is two years Bahdi’s senior but is also a couple of inches smaller than the Niagara Falls native.

Given that he has 12 knockout wins in his 20 bouts, he comes into the bout with underrated power. His last two wins have both come via stoppage. One against Orlando Mosquera and his most recent win was a two-round destruction of Fletcher Silva. Silva tasted the canvas three times in less than five minutes.

Silva’s team later complained that the Argentine was hitting their man on the floor. If you watch some highlights, you can see they had a convincing argument. It’s this rugged tenacity that he brings in buckets, and he will not be shy about roughing up Bahdi, even if he is fighting Prince Bahdi on his home soil.

Carrasco picked up the South American lightweight title in this bout. Going into the Bahdi fight, he will have no qualms about being the smaller man. He is a rugged, compact, and unforgiving come-forward fighter. He relishes getting in close and letting his hands go. The knockout power exhibited by both fighters is the key statistic to consider in this match. We predict the bout will provide a thrilling display of action and excitement for the duration of the fight.

Lucas Bahdi vs Juan Javier Carrasco Predictions

Prediction: Carrasco to win by TKO or KO

Carrasco’s 12 knockouts in 20 wins is a respectable figure – but it doesn’t generate the same sort of eye-opening response as Bahdi’s 86% stoppage ratio. However, as we boxing fans know, it’s all about digging deeper into the records, checking out the quality of the opposition for each man, and seeing how they could tally up against each other.

You could make a convincing case for Carrasco being the first solid test of Bahdi’s career. He brings a strong winning record and is currently riding high off a career-best knockout. You only need to watch two or three rounds of Carrasco to know what he brings. He has broad shoulders, clearly keeps himself in good condition, and has solid fundamentals and direct footwork. Despite having a stoppage loss on his record, there’s nothing to suggest in his last two outings that he has a weak chin or can’t take a shot.

Bahdi is a precision counterpuncher. He likes to combine his punches and catch opponents off guard. It is often the punches you don’t see coming that hurt you the most, and Bahdi is certainly a testament to this. If Carrasco can handle Bahdi’s speed and counter-punching, he will be keen to turn it into a dogfight.

Lucas Bahdi vs Juan Javier Carrasco Betting Picks

Match-ups like this in boxing are always so intriguing. The sport often suffers from poor-quality matchups, which are so lopsided it’s sometimes not even worth tuning in. While promoters will beat the drum for their fighter and talk about how much of an even contest is on the cards – the boxing betting markets are often a great indicator of how uneven the matchup is on paper.

Carrasco is a live-wire and will come to win, unlike most of Badhi’s opponents. We aren’t saying that to demean any of his previous opponents; they’re key learning fights, and it’s all about getting professional experience. Still, Carrasco is a vicious fighter with the tools to cause an upset.

Whoever controls the distance in this fight will come out victorious. You’d imagine that Bahdi will catch the shorter man coming in, and Carrasco will focus on controlling the center of the ring and cutting it off.

Despite having a home advantage, it’ll be intriguing to see how the odds shape up for Carrasco to come over and spoil the party, perhaps in the latter rounds. So we’d opt for a group round bet between 7 and 9 for Carrasco. If you’re sizing up an upset, check out our welcome bonus. Lucas Bahdi vs Juan Javier Carrasco Outcome

We’d say Bahdi on points will be a likely outcome, but if there’s value closer to fight night for a Carrasco stoppage win, that could also be worth a punt—it’s a very intriguing matchup. Ultimately, whoever controls the distance will have the keys to victory. Carrasco showed in his last fight that he can viciously cut the ring off and throw punches in bunches.

However, Bahdi is more technical and operates at a much higher level than any of Carrasco’s previous opponents. This Saturday, both men will face the sternest test of their careers – and if they put it all on the line, it could have the potential to go off. Carrasco’s relentless offensive work will be evident from the off. Bahdi can gain his respect early. Looking at his knockout ratio, you imagine this might not be as big of a challenge as it sounds, but the compact shell of Titan could wither a lot of the early storm.

You’d expect his game plan to take the fight into the second half and then put his foot on the gas. Given that he has more experience going the distance than Prince Bahdi does. There are also live in-play betting markets to explore if you fancy a punt during the action or on any other sports games this weekend, for that matter. Our boxing prediction is for a war of attrition and a big learning curve for Bahdi – with a close points win as the most likely outcome. But Carrasco can throw a spanner in the works.

Lucas Bahdi vs Juan Javier Carrasco Full Fight Card

Recently, promoters have struggled to gain Canadian visas for foreign athletes. The ongoing issue plagued the original event, forcing promoters to move from the original May 11 date. On that date, Vasyl Lomachenko put on one of the most dominant performances of his career. He beat George Kambosos Jr. via TKO to claim the vacant lightweight IBF title. Currently ranked 12th, Bahdi could find himself in an even clearer title picture with a win here as he sets his sights on Loma.

Unlike the main matchup, which has strong potential, the overall fight card at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre on Saturday isn’t anything to write home about. It’d be naïve to expect a stacked card for this event. The main event on its own will be a great fight and there’s a lot of stay-busy fights on the undercard, too.

Top-10-ranked female bantamweight Amanda Galle will feature on the card. The IBO female super-bantamweight champion will face Edith de Jesus Flores. Galle’s unbeaten record is expected to remain intact with Jesus Flores winning just seven of her 28 pro fights.

Steven Wilcox will have his first fight back since his decision defeat against Mathieu Germain in March 2023. The super-lightweight fell short of claiming the IBF Inter-continental belt in that bout and this may be his final chance to get back into the picture. The Hamilton native will face Jose Castro Fierros whose 89% KO rate will prove a threat.

Young super-middleweight Stephane Fondjo will look to make it seven from seven. The 26-year-old faces unranked journeyman Silverio Ortiz in a 6-rounder. Fondjo is ranked outside the top-100 and a win in this keep-busy fight will do little to take him up those rankings.

There’s a six-round cruiserweight dust-up between two fighters still finding their feet in the pro game. Peter Nowaczek and Dariusz Skop, have 16 fights combined. Middleweight prospect James Hughes is also on the undercard, keeping himself busy at middleweight against Dawid Przybylski in a 6-rounder. While there’s a decent number of keep-busy fights and a world-level female bantamweight on the card, the main event is carrying the card.

These bouts could be subject to change. Monitor social media channels from Lucas Baxter Promotions, who will keep people posted right until the first bell rings.
