EURO 2024

With the Euros fast approaching, we are here to provide a comprehensive source of EURO 2024 news. We have been following multiple soccer leagues all season to present you with accurate EURO 2024 predictions and betting tips. We have a keen eye on all the favourites, like England, France, and Germany. Plus, we have some advice for betting on EURO 2024 outsiders like Belgium and the Netherlands.

The UEFA European Championship, known as the Euros to most of us, has been held every four years since 1960. There have been 24 finals over the past 64 years, with Germany and Spain holding the record for most championship wins. The format differed in EURO 2020 as the tournament took place across 11 countries. Because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the competition began in June 2021, a year later than expected. Italy defeated England in a penalty shootout at Wembley in the final.

The 2024 Euros will take place in Germany for the third time and many expect an exciting tournament. We are upping our coverage to keep you updated with the latest EURO 2024 news and betting tips. Check back here weekly to see the latest predictions for the Euros.

EURO 2024 Betting Tips

Making successful EURO 2024 bets will be difficult. A tournament as important as this often throws surprise results into the works. After three group stage games, they will eliminate eight teams from the competition. That means many soccer bets will be out the window before the knockout stage.

To help you avoid some poor wagers at the Euros, we have created a list of EURO 2024 betting tips. For more information about the tournament, check our EURO 2024 stadiums guide. We also have an article explaining when EURO 2024 starts and where to watch it in Canada.

  • Go Easy on Group Stage Betting: When the Euros kicks off on June 14th, the temptation will be to bet on all games in the first few days. However, it’s always difficult to call international matches without watching how the teams play or who makes the starting 11. Betting will be difficult regardless, so don’t go crazy during the group stage.
  • Be Careful with Accumulators: Betting on multiple group stage fixtures could be a great way to land a high-odds wager. However, just choosing the favourites makes it easy to be caught out. Group stages always chuck in some surprises. Whether the host nation starts with a draw or a surprise defeat to a favourite, anything can happen in the opening fixtures.
  • Pace Yourself: Our first few tips have been all about caution. Being careful with your wagers early on sets a good tone for the tournament, as we have a month of games to enjoy. There will be 51 fixtures between June 14th and July 14th, so ensure you don’t make heavy losses before the knockout games. In our experience, betting on the Euros round of 16 and semi-finals has always been more profitable than the group stage.
  • Live Betting: Making live bets during the Euros is a great way to enjoy the tournament. If you watch some games and see players scoring freely, you can bet on them during the match to add to their tally. You can also bet on smaller events, like corners and cards when placing live wagers. Sometimes, it’s better not to predict the result ahead of time, but the goal scorers or any assists.
  • Check the Squads: Before June 6th, every manager will have released their national team of at least 23 players. Finding out who has been called up and who the manager left out will help you avoid bad wagers. We will keep you updated with the latest EURO 2024 news, including team news. But keep an eye out for any injuries or withdrawals between now and the start of the competition.
  • Wait to Bet: If you bet on the tournament winner, wait until most teams have played their first game. The odds will fluctuate throughout the tournament, so there is no need to rush into a wager. Take your time, and try and pick a team not just playing well, but one with an easy road to the final.
  • Look for Unique Bets: As the Euros only takes place every four years, there are several unique markets you can bet on. At our online sports betting site, you can bet on the outright winner of the tournament, the winner of each group, the Golden Boot, and even which group the winning team comes from. You can also bet on the tournament statistics, such as the number of goals scored, corners, yellow cards, and penalties. Ensure you search beyond just the match winners from the opening games at the Euros.

Remember, if you place bets on the Euros, look into responsible gambling. There are over 50 matches taking place in 30 days, so you don’t have to bet on every fixture.

EURO Predictions Today

Predicting EURO 2024 won’t be easy, but we have consulted our team to create the most accurate predictions for this year’s tournament. If you register for our online betting site, you can claim a unique welcome bonus if you decide to follow any of our predictions for the Euros.

Our predicted winner for the 2024 Euros comes down to three countries. England has the best shot at winning this competition, having made it all the way to the final three years ago. However, the England team might be stronger on paper since then, but the recent performances have not been convincing. If you are considering betting on the Euros, a punt on the host nation could be the way to go. German football has regressed over the past 20 years, but sometimes hosting an event can get a struggling team over the line.

Our Euro 2024 group predictions see the hosts, Germany, top Group A, closely followed by Switzerland. In Group B, Spain should lead the way, with Italy finishing runner-up and Croatia as one of the best losers. England should win Group C, but then it’s a three-horse race for second place. France should walk out of Group D with all nine points, and we expect Belgium to do the same in Group E. Finally, Group F should go to Portugal with newcomers, Georgia, either coming in second or third in that group. Our Euro 2024 prediction sees Georgia make it to the round of 16.

Last 10 Winners of EURO 2024

Before making any bets, we recommend taking a closer look at the most recent winners of the competition. While a lot has changed over the four years between the UEFA competitions, there is an interesting trend developing in recent years. Below are the ten most recent Euro finals, including the location of each game.

  • 2020: Italy vs England, 3-2 Penalties (Wembley Stadium, England)
  • 2016: Portugal vs France, 1-0 Extra Time (Stade de France, France)
  • 2012: Spain vs Italy, 4-0 (Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex, Ukraine)
  • 2008: Spain vs Germany, 1-0 (Ernst-Happel-Stadion, Austria)
  • 2004: Greece vs Portugal, 1-0 (Estádio da Luz, Portugal)
  • 2000: France vs Italy, 2-1 Golden Goal (Feijenoord Stadion, Netherlands)
  • 1996: Germany vs Czech Republic, 2-1 Golden Goal (Wembley Stadium, England)
  • 1992: Denmark vs Germany, 2-0 (Ullevi, Sweden)
  • 1988: Netherlands vs Soviet Union 2-0 (Olympiastadion, Germany)
  • 1984: France vs Spain, 2-0 (Parc des Princes, France)

Only once in the past ten attempts has the winning team played on home soil. In three of the most recent finals, the team playing on home turf has lost the final. That includes the two most recent Euros between Italy and England plus Portugal and France. Both France and England played on home turf but lost the last game. That does not bode well for Germany, who wants their first UEFA European Competition win since 1996.

Who Qualified for the EUROs?

24 teams qualified for the Euros this year. As the host nation, Germany was enrolled automatically for the tournament, leaving 23 spots up for grabs. There were 53 teams in the qualifying stages, because of the sanctions on Russia and Germany’s host status. They split the 53 teams into ten groups, with the top two finishers securing automatic qualification into this competition.

That left three spots in the 24 total to be filled by the Euro 2024 play-offs. The losing teams entered the play-offs based on their performance in the 2022/23 UEFA Nations League. Of those 12 teams, Georgia, Ukraine, and Poland won their games and secured the last spots in this year’s competition. Georgia was the fairytale story, the only team making their debut this year. Below, is a list of all 24 countries competing in EURO 2024.
