When Does EURO 2024 Start?

When Does the Group Stage Start?
June 14th marks the start of the group stage. This is where the four teams inside each group face off until they have all played each other once. The group stage at EURO 2024 starts on June 14th and continues until June 26th. In these 12 days, there are between one and four group stage matches daily.
The first match begins at 3:00 pm ET on June 14th. It’s an exciting match with host nation Germany welcoming Scotland. The final group stage games in EURO 2024 are Czech Republic vs Turkey and Georgia vs Portugal. Both matches take place on June 26th at 3:00 pm.
When Does the Round of 16 Start?
Come June 27th and 28th, every team gets a two-day break before the losers get an early flight home and the rest progress to knockout football. There are 24 teams in the group stage, but only 16 move on to phase two. The round of 16 EURO 2024 start date is on the 29th of June. The final 16 teams get one shot to secure a victory and progress in the competition. They play two games daily until another rest on July 3rd and 4th.
The first round of 16 games is between the second-placed teams in Groups A and B on June 29th at 12:00 pm ET. The final fixture in this round sees first in Group D and the runner-up of Group F on July 2nd, at 3:00 pm ET.
When do the Quarterfinals Start?
We get into some tasty fixtures when eight teams are left in the Euros. There are four games in this part of the tournament, with two each day. Starting July 5th and ending July 6th, the teams play their games 24 hours after each other. The winning teams get July 7th and 8th off for a rest.
The first quarterfinal match is July 5th at 12:00 pm ET and there is no way of knowing who will make it this far in the competition. On July 6th, the final two games take place, with the last one kicking off at 3:00 pm.
When do the Semi-Finals Start?
On the 9th and 10th of July, the final four teams face off. Both fixtures kick off at 3:00 pm ET, and your guess is as good as ours regarding which country will make it this far. The two matches take place in Munich and Dortmund, which is poetic when you think about it. Once we have a winner from both games, the teams get July 11th, 12th, and 13th off as a rest. They will need the three-day break to recover for the biggest match of EURO 2024.
When is the EURO 2024 Final?
The Euro 2024 Final takes place 30 days after the start of the competition. That means the last game at this year’s European Championship will be July 14th. The official kick-off time is 3:00 pm ET and the final will take place in the largest stadium at the 2024 Euros. The Olympic Stadium in Berlin is the ideal venue for the biggest soccer game of the summer.
Looking at our sports betting site, it is a three-horse race to make it to the final. Examining the odds for the outright winner of the Euros 2024 reveals England has the lowest odds at 16/5. If you are interested in betting on the Euros, France has odds of 7/2 and the host nation, Germany, has odds of 11/2. Placing a $10 bet on England would return $42 at this stage, but these odds will fluctuate during the Euros. Betting on France will give you $45 from a ten-dollar stake and $65 for Germany. Anything can happen during the group stage, including a resurgence of German soccer.
EURO 2024 Duration
The Euros begin on June 14th and last until July 14th. That gives soccer fans 51 matches to enjoy in one month. The busiest stage will be the last two match days before the knockout part of the tournament. On June 25th and 26th, there are four matches on each day. The group stage has 36 games in total lasting 12 days. The round of 16 has eight matches, spread across four days. After that, the quarterfinals have four games over two days. The final, along with the semi-finals, only has one match each day.
That means all 24 nations will play at least three games by June 26th. The winner will have lifted the trophy on July 14th. When you put it like that, it feels like there will be hundreds of games to watch. But as with any major soccer competition, it will all be over faster than you know. That’s why it’s not a bad idea to lock in some Euro 2024 bets now. You don’t have to predict individual games, but a five or ten-dollar punt on the tournament winner could be worthwhile!
Where to Watch EURO 2024 in Canada
The EURO 2024 TV broadcast partner for Canada is TSN. That is fantastic news for Canadian residents, as it means most of us won’t miss a game. Most games will be available on TSN1 and TSN2 throughout EURO 2024. This will include fixtures during the group stage and the Euros knockout matches. Even if you don’t have access to TSN, you can visit your local bar and watch almost every fixture.
If you hope to catch the broadcasts in Canadian French, you will need a TVA Sports subscription. TVA Sports is the only rights holder for Canadian French, and they will broadcast most games on TVA Sports, TVA Sports 2, and TVA Sports 3 if necessary.
The Euros group stage begins on June 14th at 3:00 pm. After that, they have scheduled fixtures at 9 am, 12 pm, and 3 pm almost daily until June 23rd. At this point, the final group games take place simultaneously, to avoid any countries playing for certain results. That means you will have to choose between the final two matches of each group. After the group stage, they space out the fixtures to include two on the same day, but never at the same time. That should mean you can watch almost every EURO 2024 fixture in Canada.
