This article is also available in French.

We are just weeks away from the Copa America finals, with summer fast approaching. The international tournament will kick off on June 20. With just weeks remaining, many fans want to familiarize themselves with the Copa America 2024 stadiums and schedule. Here, we have created a comprehensive guide covering the format, fixtures, and cities that will host Copa America 2024 soccer matches.

We expected Ecuador to host the tournament because of CONMEBOL’s host rotation order. In 2022, Alejandro Dominguez, the president of CONMEBOL, disclosed Ecuador was not the designated organizer for the 2024 edition. In November of that year, Ecuador formally declined the offer to host. Following CONCACAF’s new partnership with CONMEBOL, they announced the United States as the host. Included in the partnership, six CONCACAF guest teams will enter the tournament. It begins hosting duties for the Red, White and Blue. They will jointly host the 2026 World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico.

Copa America 2024 Stadiums and Cities

Thirteen cities across 10 states will host the games in the US. Most of the 14 stadiums are the current homes of NFL teams, except three soccer grounds. Many have played host to heart-stopping moments in the NFL but are yet to welcome soccer teams.

Stadium locations for Copa America 2024

As a majority of the Copa America 2024 stadiums are NFL home venues, we can expect some bumper crowds. Children’s Mercy Park, home of Austin FC, is the smallest capacity stadium with just under 18,500. At the other end of the scale, MetLife Stadium’s capacity of 82,000 will be the largest in the tournament. Below, we have included a list of host cities and a close look at each stadium.

  • Arlington, Texas
  • Austin, Texas
  • Houston, Texas
  • Atlanta, Georgia
  • Miami Gardens, Florida
  • Orlando, Florida
  • Inglewood, California
  • Santa Clara, California
  • East Rutherford, New Jersey
  • Glendale, Arizona
  • Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Kansas City, Missouri
  • Kansas City, Kansas

AT&T Stadium – Arlington, Texas

A photo inside one of the Copa America Stadiums, the AT&T Stadium

Home to the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL, the AT&T Stadium boasts the second largest capacity in Copa America. The multiplex venue opened to the public in 2009 and has hosted Super Bowl XLV, Wrestlemania, and concerts for multi-platinum artists. The twin video boards that hang high in the centre field are among the largest high-definition video screens in the world. At 175ft, they set the Guinness World Record in 2009 for the world’s largest HD video display.

They also have a rich history in soccer. The first sporting event to be held at AT&T was a soccer match. In July 2009, Costa Rica and Guadeloupe faced off in a Gold Cup quarterfinal match. Eighty-five-thousand fans watched Costa Rica dismantle Guadeloupe in a 5-1 victory. That day, Mexico would beat Haiti 4-0 at the same venue in another quarterfinal. Since then, they have hosted several CONCACAF soccer matches, exhibitions, and The World Football Challenge.

Texas is the biggest state in the US, with Arlington, as its seventh-most populous city. With 393,000 residents and thousands more flocking to The Lone Star State in anticipation of the games, we can expect a crowd of 82,000.

Q2 Stadium – Austin, Texas

Inside the Q2 Stadium

Texas is also home to the second-smallest stadium in the tournament. The Q2 Stadium in Austin seats just under 21,000 fans. It is the home stadium of the MLS side, Austin FC and will be the newest venue at Copa America, opening its doors in June 2021.

Sitting right next to the stadium is McKalla Station on the CapMetro Red Line. The commuter rail service was purpose-built for easy transport links to the Q2. It offers a direct walking route for travelling fans.

Austin is the state capital of Texas and its fourth-largest city, with a population of 958,000. It is a city full of history and culture with plenty to explore as visitors. The Texas State Capitol is a beautiful example of pre-20th century architecture and was once the tallest capitol building in the nation. The LBJ Presidential Library and Bullock Texas State History Museum are a great way to learn more about the state and city. Finally, it is the live music capital of the world. There are hundreds of live music bars and restaurants lining the streets to enjoy pre- and post-match.

NRG Stadium – Houston, Texas

One of the Copa America Stadiums, the NRG Stadium

Finally, the NRG Stadium in Houston rounds out the hosting venues in the Lone Star State. This multipurpose stadium opened in August 2002 upon the Houston Texan’s entry into the NFL. After hosting Super Bowl LI in 2017, it underwent its first major renovation in 15 years. Not only did this modernize the team facilities and offices, it also expanded the capacity to over 72,000.

This is another stadium with a rich soccer history. They have hosted several Gold Cup games between 2005 and 2023, including a trio of semifinals. Houston has also welcomed European juggernauts such as Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich for exhibition games.

Houston is the largest city in Texas, with a population of 2.2 million. They have a rich sporting history with championship-winning teams in the NFL, NBA, MLB and MLS. The city has a reputation for its live performance venues and art museums. There are hundreds of places to eat and drink outside the stadium for fans looking to make the most of their visit.

MetLife Stadium – East Rutherford, New Jersey

MetLife Stadium during an NY Jets Game

MetLife Stadium seats over 82,000 fans, at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The largest capacity venue in the tournament is home to the New York Giants and New York Jets of the NFL. The multi-purpose, open-air stadium opened in 2010 to replace the Giants Stadium and cost an eye-watering $1.6 billion. It was the most expensive stadium built in the US at the time of its completion. It boasts four 30ft big screen monitors, 2,100 HD TVs and a 360-degree ribbon board display.

In May 2010, Mexico and Ecuador played the first international exhibition soccer match at AT&T in front of 77,507 fans. They have hosted 23 exhibition matches, most recently a pre-season outing between Premier League giants Manchester City and Arsenal. This will be the second time a round of fixtures for an international tournament has been played at MetLife. The US hosted the 2016 Copa America Centenario, a special celebration of CONMEBOL. There, MetLife saw one group game, a quarterfinal, and the final. Inter Miami and Argentina’s Lionel Messi will play the Copa America champions’ second group game at MetLife. La Albiceleste are the favourites to lift the trophy again for anyone interested in betting on Copa America.

Despite boasting the largest venue in the tournament, the city of East Rutherford has the smallest population of any city in Copa America. With just 10,000 residents, the MetLife Stadium holds more than the entire population of East Rutherford. This is because it is technically a suburb of New York City. The city is located closer to Manhattan than it is to New Jersey’s state capital, Trenton. This means that visitors have the Big Apple right on their doorstep. If you win big on your soccer bets, you could explore all the city’s breathtaking landmarks.

SoFi Stadium – Inglewood, California

SoFi Stadium is an indoor-outdoor stadium in the Los Angeles suburb of Inglewood, California. NFL sides, the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, each play home games at the fixed-roof stadium. It will be one of the most modern stadiums to host soccer matches at Copa America, opening in 2020. It is the most expensive stadium in the world, with construction costs estimated at an astonishing $5.5 billion.

Although SoFi has hosted just three soccer matches since opening, it is an important part of North American soccer history. In 2023, it played host to the Gold Cup final where Mexico secured a record-extending ninth title after beating Panama 1-0.

Inglewood is located near Los Angeles International Airport, making it perfect for travelling fans. It is famed for its casinos and racing track for those who enjoy betting on horse racing.

Levi’s Stadium – Santa Clara, California

Opening in 2014, the Levi’s Stadium is home to the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers. This multipurpose stadium has hosted a plethora of events in and out of sports. Fans at Levi’s have witnessed Super Bowl 50, Super Bowl LX, WrestleMania 31, the 2015 NHL Stadium Series, multi-million-dollar revenue-generating concerts and several soccer matches.

They hosted several games during the 2016 Copa America Centenario, the CONCACAF Gold Cup final in 2017, and two group games in 2023. MLS side the San Jose Earthquakes have also played three regular season games at Levi’s. During the summer, they have consistently hosted exhibition games for international and club sides, such as Barcelona and AC Milan.

Santa Clara has a population of 126,000. In the center of Silicon Valley, it is home to the headquarters of companies such as Intel, AMD and Nvidia. You can also visit the 49ers museum to see statues of former greats and their four Vince Lombardi trophies.

State Farm Stadium – Glendale, Arizona

This 63,000-capacity stadium opened in 2006 as the Cardinals Stadium. As well as homing the Arizona Cardinals, it hosted the annual college football Fiesta Bowl. Another multipurpose stadium, the WWE visited in 2010 for WrestleMania, as have artists such as Taylor Swift, Guns n’ Roses, Beyonce and The Rolling Stones.

Yet another to have welcomed teams during the Gold Cup and 2016 Copa America Centenario, they have hosted nine competitive soccer games. Last year, Mexico, Haiti, Honduras and Qatar played Gold Cup group games in Glendale.

Glendale is perhaps best known for its art galleries, museums and theatres. The Glendale Centre and Alex theatres frequently welcome musicals, orchestral performances and comedians. The former is open 52 weeks a year, meaning you could enjoy a matinee before a Copa America game in the evening.

Allegiant Stadium – Las Vegas, Nevada

A photo of the Allegiant Stadium before a match

Allegiant Stadium is a domed multi-purpose stadium with a 61,000 capacity for soccer. Another of the modern stadiums in this tournament, Allegiant, opened in 2020. Made up of ten levels, construction cost $1.9 billion. Features include an ETFE roof, light-up strips, a 275-foot video screen and retractable windows facing the Vegas strip. The home of the Las Vegas Raiders in the NFL, it also hosts the annual Las Vegas Bowl, concerts and professional wrestling events. The North end zone contains an 85-foot torch with a lit flame in honour of legendary Raiders coach Al Davis. It’s the largest 3D-printed object in the world.

In 2021, over 61,000 fans flocked to see the United States defeat Mexico in the Gold Cup final. It was the first time the stadium presented a soccer game and it has since hosted several club friendlies, including the 2023 Gold Cup Semifinal.

Not much needs to be said about what to do in Vegas. The mecca for casinos, there are some 175 throughout the Metropolis with a further 300 hotels and resorts. You can place soccer bets with Vegas odds or try your hand at their table games. Sin City is open 24/7 with thousands of bars, eateries and clubs to enjoy.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium – Atlanta, Georgia

A glance inside the Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Opened in August 2017 as a replacement for the Georgia Dome, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium is the home of the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL. This 71,000-seater cost $1.6 billion to build and comes with a signature retractable, pinwheeling roof. A myriad of local vendors fill out the concessions with plenty of affordable beverage options.

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium is yet to host a competitive international men’s fixture. They have hosted several MLS fixtures, including the 2018 MLS Cup final. That game set the stadium’s soccer attendance record with 73,000 filling the stands.

The Georgia state capital is full of history, having played an important part in the Civil War and the 1960s Civil Rights movement. The Atlanta History Center narrates Atlanta’s past and the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site is a dedication to the iconic leader’s life. They have a rich sporting history too, having hosted the 1996 Olympics. Downtown, the Centennial Olympic Park is the crown jewel of the entertainment district.

Bank of America Stadium – Charlotte, North Carolina

A photo inside the Bank of America Stadium on game day

Over in uptown Charlotte, the home ground of the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC will host two important games. One of the most historic venues in Copa America, the Bank of America Stadium opened in 1996. It has a seating capacity of just under 75,000.

They decked out the three huge main entrances in the team colours of black, blue and silver and completed with two bronze panther statues. They are the largest commissioned sculptures in the United States. As well as Charlotte FC home games, the Bank of America Stadium hosted Gold Cup games in 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023.

Charlotte has sports teams in the NFL, NBA and MLS, but one of the city’s biggest sporting landmarks comes from NASCAR. The NASCAR Hall of Fame is in the Charlotte Convention Center, honouring all-time great drivers, crew chiefs and owners. Located just down the street from the Bank of America Stadium, there are plenty of bars and pubs to enjoy a drink before the games.

Children’s Mercy Park – Kansas City, Kansas

One of the Copa America 2024 Stadiums, the Children's Mercy Park

The smallest capacity stadium in Copa America is Children’s Mercy Park.  Opening in 2011, Sporting Kansas City uses the soccer-specific stadium during the MLS season. It has seating capabilities up to 18,500. There are two 24 by 84 feet Daktronics video boards behind both goals.

Despite being the smallest Copa America 2024 Stadium, it is one of the most prolific for hosting international fixtures. Children’s Mercy Park has been home to 13 competitive international games since 2011, with a further seven competitive youth fixtures.

Kansas City is home to the Kansas Speedway, which hosts NASCAR races. You can purchase a FanWalk ticket to access the infield area between the garages on non-NASCAR Cup Series race days. Famous for their barbecue food, fans can enjoy KC delicacies like burnt ends and smoked beef brisket.

Arrowhead – Kansas City, Missouri

Inside the Arrowhead Stadium on game day

The Arrowhead Stadium has a reputation for a rocking atmosphere. Over 76,000 fans fill out the stands for Kansas City Chiefs home games in the NFL. It has a personal feel with grandstands much closer to the field than your average NFL stadium. Steeped in history, Arrowhead opened in 1972, making it the most historic venue in the Copa America. Fans famously set the Guinness world record for its stadium noise in 2014. They registered at 142.2 decibels during their game against the New England Patriots. That’s louder than a jet plane taking off!

Despite its 52-year history, this will be just the third occasion the stadium has hosted a competitive soccer game. Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami faced the Sporting Kansas City team in an MLS game in April. Before that, the Arrowhead Stadium had not hosted a competitive soccer fixture since 2002, when the US played Costa Rica in a World Cup qualification game.

Kansas City, Missouri has a jazz heritage. The American Jazz Museum is downtown in the historic 18th & Vine Jazz District. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art also houses over 40,000 works in Oak St.

Inter&Co Stadium – Orlando, Florida

Fans in the Inter&Co Stadium

Another of the more personal venues, the Inter&Co Stadium seats 25,000 fans. Purpose-built for the Orlando City SC of the MLS, this soccer-specific stadium has hosted MLS and international fixtures since 2017. It became the first-ever venue to host MLS, NWSL, and USL teams in the same location.

World Cup qualifiers, Gold Cup and CONCACAF Nations League games have all taken place here in Orlando. They played six games at Inter&Co during the 2021 Gold Cup finals.

Orlando is one of the most tourist-centric cities in the US. Millions travel from all over the world every year to visit theme parks, hotels and entertainment resorts. Universal Studios and Disneyland are open year-round of course.

  • 07/01 at 9:00 pm EDT: Bolivia vs Panama (Group C)

Hard Rock Stadium – Miami Gardens, Florida

The Hard Rock Stadium during an NFL training day

Finally, we have the setting for the Copa America final. The Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins, has a capacity of 64,767. It has hosted six Super Bowls since its opening in 1987. Despite over 30 soccer fixtures being played at the Hard Rock, this will be the first time hosting competitive games. A sun-shielding and waterproof roof helps with the tropical storms and blistering Miami heat. Spacious concourses also make for an excellent experience when eating and drinking with other fans.

They played the first soccer game at the Hard Rock Stadium in 1994 between Colombia and Sweden. Because  South Florida has one of the largest Central and South American populations in the US, it frequently hosts international sides from the regions.

Miami Gardens has less history compared to the other cities in the Copa America schedule. It is only 21 years old, having been incorporated in May 2003. There are several botanical gardens and plenty of bars and Caribbean soul food joints!

  • 06/23 at 9:00 pm EDT: Uruguay vs Panama (Group C)
  • 06/29 at 8:00 pm EDT: Argentina vs Peru (Group A)
  • 07/14 at 8:00 pm EDT: Winner Match 29 vs Winner Match 30 (Final)

What are the Copa America 2024 Groups?

Our soccer prediction is for the likes of Brazil, Argentina and Mexico to top their groups, but second place looks tough to call. Tournament favourites Argentina will clash with Peru, Canada and Chile in Group A. Argentina enters Copa America after winning the World Cup in 2022. They should proceed to the knockouts with no issues.

A graphic showing the Copa America 2024 Groups

In Group B, Mexico has been handed a slightly more challenging draw. They will collide with Ecuador, Jamaica and Venezuela. Although Jaime Lozano’s men should top the group, Ecuador and Venezuela will prove tough opponents. They have beaten Ecuador just once in their last four meetings. They met Venezuela in the 2016 Copa America, drawing 1-1 before beating them 3-1 in a friendly in 2019. Jamaica is the outsiders in Group B.

Group C will probably come down to the United States meeting with Uruguay. The latter are slight favourites to top the group, but the US ‘golden generation’ are no pushovers. Panama and Bolivia are major outsiders in Group C. However, we often see shock defeats at international tournaments. You can’t afford to overlook any team in the Copa America.

Finally, Brazil is the heavy favourite to win Group D. They face Colombia, which our online sportsbook has as the second favourite. Paraguay and Costa Rica round out the group and Brazil should breeze past both with little difficulty on paper.

Copa America Schedule and Format

The format of Copa America 2024 has changed significantly from previous years. The expansion to sixteen teams from ten means there are now four groups of four, replacing the format of two groups of five. Each team plays the other three countries in their group once. The teams who finish first and second in their group progress to the knockout rounds.

The knockout rounds begin in the quarterfinals. The winner progresses to the semifinal and so on. Extra time comes in if the game is level after 90 minutes, followed by penalties if necessary.

The Copa America schedule begins with Argentina and Canada kicking off on June 20 at 8:00 pm EDT at the Mercedez-Benz Stadium. The rest of the group games play through July 2. The quarterfinals take place from July 4–July 6, the semifinals from July 9-10 and the final on July 14. There will also be a third-place playoff game on July 13.
